Unlike the initial surgery, my physician gave me Saliastic (sp) Strips following the revision procedure. These strips were a clear, thick, sticky reusable plastic that I was to apply over the incision with a surgical tape. The doctor said it was still unknown exactly why this works in keeping the incision soft, flat and flexible during the healing process, but it did for me; the area looks great and no keloid. Unfortunately, I am not sure if these strips will work on existing keloids. It would be a good idea to check with a physician who specializes in reconstructive surgeries...they know all of the tricks of the trade. >> I had foot surgery last year and I was given something similar--I don't know the brand name or anything, but they were clear strips of silicone (looked like see-thru Jello Jigglers) that I put on the incisions to keep them from forming keloids. Don't try any "do it yourself" remedies. Call a dermatologist. Fly like WHOA!!! | ||
