| Subject: [BlackTresses] For the love of black hair | ||
| I'm estatic to have found you guys! I can relate to all your stories and hair transformations. I permed for years. Then cut it all off and wore a short fro. Then discovered the world of braids, twists, and locs. I've been wearing my hair loced for 3 yrs now and I love it. We have a sisterhood network here in Columbus, Ohio. I am going to be taping a series of programs on the local cable access station that will be deal with the historical/psychological/emotional "journey" that African-Americans have had to deal with since slavery about their hair. The shows will deal with two main issues: for the love of black hair and the war on black hair. We are under seige here in Ohio like some other states. Our Board of Cosmetology seems to have a skewed viewpoint about natural hair and so has taken steps to license this time honored art form. They seem to think natural hair care translates into adding wefts or tracks of hair for bonding and weaving, and hair extensions. THIS IS NOT NATURAL HAIR. We contend that PURELY natural hair care is an art form which dates back to the beginning of time. I want your input. Also let me know what's going on legislatively in your city or state. I'm curious. Peace,Love,Wellness | ||
